First time parenting tips
Being a first time parent can be many things... Its wonderful, and amazing, but it can also be scary and nerve racking. There are many things to worry about, and many things that we worry about without the need for worry.
I myself am a first time parent to a 1 year old daughter. In the beginning I would worry non-stop. constantly checking on the new little life I was now responsible for. I would worry if she was warm enough, or cool enough. if she needed held, or left alone. when she should have a bottle, if it was too warm or too cold. I would worry constantly. At the same time I would worry about my worrying. this was something that all first time parents do.
I had to learn to worry less and to just pay attention to her.
we all worry, its what makes us human. it is ok to worry. just don't over stress yourself.
Babies are easier than we first think as new parents. They let us know when they need something. Granted they cant use words so they cry. At this point its a guessing game, but there are only a few things that a new baby needs.
- The baby is hungry and needs fed.
- The baby needs changed.
- The baby needs attention.
These are typically the things that a new born will need when they start crying.
As your little one grows older there will be other things they will cry for.
- Teething pains
- Irritation(babies are like adults in the sense that if something isn't working the way they want it to they get angry).
Babies and young children cant speak for themselves, so we as parents tend to over think everything.
Relax.
it is important to give your mind time to relax. things that helps are,
- Taking a hot bath.
- Read a book.
- Meditate.
- Listen to music.
- Play a game.
I know what you are thinking... How does listening to music or playing a video game help relax the mind?
When I say relax I don't mean you have to completely quiet you mind. I mean you should take your mind off of the stress and constant worry. Stress is not good for the body or for the mind.
Don't worry mom and dad you are doing a great job with your little one.
take a deep breath, exhale, and calm your mind.
Your child will let you know when and if they need something.
Be well, Be happy, and Enjoy life.
It only gets better from here.
